I realize the origins are a bit unorthodox, but I feel like it's interesting enough to give a shot.
Name: Janus Nordennavic
Age:: 25
Species: Human
Height: 6’ 1”
Weight: 150 lbs.
Family:
Mother: Famke Nordennavic - 45
Father: Fyodor Nordennavic - 49
Siblings: None
Children: None
Lover: None
Magical Abilities: None
Birthplace: Hresvelgr, Solvaghia
Current Residence: District Keshet, Unit 801 of the KVG Petya (Keshet is one of two districts on the Petya, and 801 is his assigned room number)
Occupation: Fighter Pilot and Guild of Explorers leader.
Accessories: A silver ring on his right ring finger, a black and white aviator’s cap and goggles, a pistol in his shoulder holster (revealing that he’s left handed). A bandana bearing the Solvaghian flag, one of very few of his nation’s icons left.
Description: A leanly muscled fellow, Janus carries the typical color scheme, if you will, of your average Solvaghian, or “Solvie.” His pale skin is peppered with the lightening effect his growing facial hair’s snowy white tinting achieves, and his dark blue eyes give his face its only color; even his chapped lips are the shallow pink of his skin. Soft grayscale eyebrows rest over his inquisitive, suspicious gaze, and a slight upturn at the tip of his nose adds a boyish, almost effeminate detail to his overall expression. His strong, wide jaw gives him a leader-like appeal among his people.
His attire is nothing extravagant, but fitting of his “working man’s” persona on the Petya. He keeps his short, thick white hair under a faded green beret from the old days, worn by his father during the war. A thick, similarly-colored jacket adorns his thick torso, fringed with the white fur of a Solvaghian bear. His pants are thick white military cargos, leftovers from army surplus, the same kind worn by the rest of the pilots. He wears steel-toed boots, white like most of his clothing, and has white holsters at his shoulders. The lenses of his aviator’s goggles are green-tinted, originally to accent the appearance of enemy flags.
He tends to take life one day at a time, with little regard to his future. The one exception to this is in business; his airfield is the source of his wealth, and because of that he is very very practical its operation. His one-day-at-a-time attitude has spawned many addictions throughout his life, but at the moment he finds himself only suffering a tame addiction to cigarettes. He is a keen reader of people and picks up on personality easy, and thus is able to craft his actions around his perception of a person’s character. He does not think he will be ready for a relationship for a very long time. His taste for exploration cannot be quenched.
Since he is flying to a place completely unknown to his people, he does not speak the native language, and thus relies on the translations of a companion android (powered by steam, of course).
Relationships:
Toscha Leko – 27 – Janus’s second-in-command and longtime friend. Acting the older brother role for Janus, the two have mutual respect for one another. They are nearly equals in flying prowess.
Cvitko Feigin – 25 – Janus’s navigator. He was the first candidate for the position, and first choice as well. Some tensions exist between the two due to differences in ideals, but overall the two tend to see eye-to-eye.
Stefan Mijasik – 32 – Solvaghian terrorist leader and de facto president of the tumultuous state of Ilya, he coordinated the efforts of his cells in order to take down Solvaghia during the chaos surrounding the Great Sickness some fifty years ago. Janus has a personal vendetta against Stefan for the takeover of his home country.
History: Janus was born during the nation of Solvaghia’s worst period in history, a plague that hit some 50 years ago and whose aftereffects gave birth to Solvaghia’s bloodiest, most diseased war. Terrorists in neighboring Ilya used the plague (which resulted from Halfsun bomb radiation drifting around the world to the Solvie continent) as a window to attack the mountain-country. As the radiation dispersed, society was forced to deal with a war-torn frontier land filled with cancers and sickness (not to mention mutated Folk from this country’s patch of the Brumeveil Forest rising up and attacking cities), and the Great Plague continued to wipe out the citizens while terrorists preyed upon villages and towns of ever increasing proximity to the capitol city. The war lasted 30 years; Janus was 8 when his country was conquered, and along with the lucky few of his population he escaped onto the converted military dreadnought airship KVG Arkady, but was eventually assigned living quarters in a converted tenement sector on the generator satellite aircraft KVG Petya.
Janus found work among other youth at an airfield on the top deck of Petya. Here, they obeyed military discipline under the new militarial dictatorship they found themselves subjects of. The youths, coming of age, were both the builders of the planes, and the pilots. But as the military dictatorship became more oppressive, the youth began shifting sides, forming a coalition to rebel against the strict rule. The coalition mounted an offensive and flew their forces onto the Arkady to take over the government facilities and kill their leaders, and with immense public support they took over. In the new government that followed, Janus was considered for a role on the Council but was decided to be too young. As a reward from the new government, Janus was given the airfield on top of Petya, and shortly thereafter became the founder of the Guild of Explorers, which received funding from the KVG government in order to chart out new lands for possible colonization.
