That ears thread gets me thinking about species. Technically a species is a classification where individuals can interbreed and produce fertile offspring. That said, are Fairies and Humans the same species under different subspecies? And all other races that can breed with one another? I totally understand if you just weren't trying to go into the biology of it. It's a fantasy RP and there's no need for deep explanation.

Nah, it's okay. College biology has ruined my view on life. I had to restrain myself from going into a huge lecture on speciation in someone elses' question thread, haha.
Humans and fairies most likely shared a recent common ancestor, as they can still interbreed. I'm thinking of dogs and wolves, dogs and dingos or dogs and coyotes. They're all separate species but can still interbreed and produce fertile offspring because they haven't evolved so differently that they're incompatible. Half-fairies are technically hybrids, like wolf-dogs or wolf-coyotes are hybrids. This makes them different from, say, mules, which are usually sterile.
