1) As far as feeling love, would a folk only fall in romantic love with another of its specific species? Like a folk cat and a folk cat? Or could romantic love happen between two separate folk species, or even a humanoid and a folk? (I know its kinda gross and creepy, but I'm curious).
2) Folk do NOT have regular animal tendencies? A folk dog would not wag his tail when happy, or a folk lion would not feel the need to hunt, etc?
3) Do they wish they had thumbs?
4) Are there things they are not allowed to do, or a code of conduct that they abide to?
5) Are folk that have a witch partner also obligated to wear a taxing collar?
6) How do folk feel about being pets? Is that even a regular thing to happen?

(Answering these as best I can. Rip can elaborate)
1)Love is attributed to the ability of being sentient. In this regard mutual/one-sided 'love' could be possible between different species. Even though beastiality is nasty.
2) They can and some likely do. It could be that the Folk that try the hardest to be human-like would also try the hardest to suppress their instinctual tendencies. Hell, it might even be considered uncouth among the more 'civilized' societies of Folk for their members to be caught engaging in animal-like behavior. Others, less concerned with appearing human, might wag their tail or give in and go for the occasional romp or hunt. They may also choose to find occupations that serve as outlets to these desires. Such as a cat getting a job as a vermin destroyer or what have you.
3) Thumbs sure are nifty and useful, so some might. Rip mentioned the possibility for the Folk to get mechanical gloves that can serve as a surrogate hand, allowing them to grasp and manipulate objects.
4)They can't kill other animals of the Folk. To do so would be considered murder. A cat of the Folk killing a normal mouse, however, would be fine. They are subject to the same laws as humans, as well. Also...social rules apply. No pooping in the streets or whatever.
5) Only those that possess magic powers capable of harvesting are required to wear a collar.
6) I imagine they consider themselves more as colleagues and friends than as pets. For those in the 'pet' position, I'd imagine they'd do so willingly or otherwise opt to end the relationship. They may look at their non-Folk animal counterparts and pity them or feel outraged at their position of subservience to man. It's up to the individual, really.
