Description:
Thil is rather quiet and keeps to himself. His bright, sky blue eyes and pointed ears being features that he hates the most, he admires the rest of his looks. He gets his height—standing at 5’11”—pale skin tone, light build, and messy obsidian hair from his father. His poor eyesight however, comes from his father as well, though he has his mother’s eye colour. Wearing a pair of wire-frame lens, he looks like any regular person. It is his ears and eyes that cause his introverted personality. He isn’t shy, willing to have company, but it is his offended feelings that stop him from seeking company. The verbal and physical bullying he received as a child as well as when trying to enter the work force has given him the idea that most people, if not all, hate what he is. He knows that not everyone could hate his species, but he doubts that there could be large numbers of people who don’t mind them.
Since he flies around, collecting many items, he has a vast collection of parts, cogs, wheels, among others that lie about in his small mechanical room aboard. He enjoys playing around with the items to create new things; this is of course when other thoughts plague his mind. Having idle fingers, helps calm his racing thoughts when he remembers negative things in his life. While flying his own ship, with the help of his androids, he wears whatever he feels like. His common ensemble consists of a light, tan coloured cotton shirt (which is often stained), a grey vest with wind-up pocket watch, and a pair of black cargo pants that tuck into ankle high military boots. He has a pair of goggles for which he wears when working on the ship and a gas mask in his cargo pants’ pockets. When he is trading or during cold weather, he has a large brown jacket, with wool insulating, large buckles and a padded collar to keep the cold air out.
Thild isn’t a very religious person. He doesn’t really know if he believes in the Architect, but he does pray to him when in time of need. He knows that if there is an Architect that, he would most likely listen to him because of constant praying, but it doesn’t cause him to spend his free time doing so. He enjoys what company his androids give him, having idle conversations about the ship as well as finds they come across. He doesn’t have conversation skills, having been around androids for such a long time. His abilities have been lost from his childhood and show when he is making a business deal. If he tried hard enough, he would be able to bring his skills back, though; right now, he doesn’t see a reason to. Thil would never admit it, but he is somewhat lonely. He misses his mother and father, knowing that they didn’t hate him and enjoyed his company. He wants to find some companion that wouldn’t mind his company.
Relationships:
His relationship with his mother was better than with his father. His mother didn’t mind the fact that he was a half-fairy. Teaching him a few of her herbal remedies, and a few tricks for poison, she soon realised that it wasn’t his true calling. His father’s comrades harassed him for choosing such a being to be his mate and to share children with. Though his rank and high salary didn’t change, he knew that they doubted his opinions after that. When his son appeared to have more human qualities, he opened up to him a bit more, though it was still odd to wait 5 years to celebrate a birthday.
Thild didn’t have any friendships until he entered his ‘high school’ years. It was at that time that all the kids in the area matured and started to see the error in calling him such nasty things. Though, they felt unnerved around him for being so young while at such a high level of learning.
History:
Thild grew up like a normal child in Dirge, though many of the children mocked him for his bright, sky blue eyes and pointed ears. They mocked him with everything they had, coming up with cruel names as well as resulting in beating him up. However, he never let it get him down. As they grew older and he aged longer than they did, they soon matured and gave him a real nickname, Field Knot. He went to a small school, only with those of high money status, and graduated at a far younger age than his classmates. It wasn’t too long after that that his father passed away. His mother was saddened, as was he, but they lived well off the large inheritance and estate that was left behind for them. His mother prayed for a safe delivery of death for his father every day, while praying for her own as well.
As he tried to enter the work force, having a strong will to fly and lacking fear of heights, he found that the work force was similar to his childhood. While searching for a job, it was at that time that his mother died, finally seeing her last year of life. She was over 900 years old, having lived at least 90 human years. He decided it was time to invest his money in the right places, and he did. He acquired a personal airship as well as parts to build androids to assist in his flying. If the work force mocked his race as much as his childhood had, then he would fly alone. He flew for many years, seeking minimal company save for making trades or bringing in scavenged items. As of recently, he has lost his mechanic and is boarding at port to search for a new one. He knows the chances of finding a new android are rather slim and has debated about whether he would allow an actual being to fly with him.
Miscellaneous:
My name is Rah, and I hope that I can fit in here fine. I love steampunk, but don’t know all the ropes yet.
