CITIES and merchant ships and air ships and all that stuff. Howe and Carden are frequently attacked by bandits.
There's also the grey wastes, if you want to treasure hunt.

I imagine that pirates would make most of their business by intercepting trade ships.
These ships would carry commodities such as food, technology, equipment, and manufactured goods. They could redistribute the wealth by selling things on the black market or to brokers that would handle the stolen goods.
They'd also be after trade ships so they could replenish their own supplies and find gear they could use to refurbish and tend to their own ships.
The Grey Wastes are also a source of interest. Pirates may head there in search of relics of the Errare's civilization or to poach the odd beasties there, later selling body parts and specimens to those interested.
Pirates may also be interested in finding their way to Dragon's Spine. I imagine this place is pretty much the holy grail to them. They might attempt to find witches that can help navigate them through the magic barriers and fog surrounding the islands.

Rather than make a new thread, I continue hereee though this question is unrelated...
Could I possibly make a character with a sort of magical disease brought on by fallout from the half-sun bomb? If so, any ideas on what it would be? If you don't have anything planned I have a few ideas drawn from a D&D game I was recently in.
Would a fairy with a cyborg-wing be allowed? I'd want it to be functioning, but it doesn't have to function particularly well.
How do the races/factions interact? Does any one group have a particular dislike of the others and for what reasons?

Haha okay, I'll answer one at a time.
1. Yes. The halfsun bomb left behind the magical equivalent to radiation poisoning. Magic waste itself (the pollutant in it's solid form, both from the bomb and the cities' dumping in the grey wastes) is called Ash. It causes mucho health problems, which is why people need to wear protective gear when traveling in to the grey wastes.
2. Yes, a fairy with a prosthetic wing is fine. I imagine it'd be hard to fly with, but it can be usable.
3. Fairies are stereotyped as snobby because a lot of them are jealous of humans born with ANY magical talent, whether or not they're witches. For the same reason, they don't like half-fairies. Many people from various races have a problem with witches because they're afraid of them (they DO have the power to put curses on people, set things on fire and strike people with lightning, after all). Humans are also judgmental against half-fairies for the same reason half-white, half-black kids are picked on in our own time.
