RAFAEL BENITO basics.name; Rafael Benito. nickname; Raff. age; 28 years. gender; Male. occuptaion; Knight of Caedere.
species; Human. height; 5'11". weight; 157.7 lbs.
appearance.body build; Rafael is muscular, but in a lanky, devilishly handsome sort of way. His body is finely sculpted from all the regular exercise he does - or, rather, is forced to. His skin is fair, and tans quite easily. hair; Rafael's hair is a very dark brown - in winter, it appears to be black - and not all that long. He keeps it nicely trimmed, but doesn't do much else with it. It has a sort of ruffled, just-fallen-out-of-bed-and-I-don't-care-about-it look to it. Or, you could say it looks very similar to David Villa's hair. And while we're on the topic, I suppose I should make note of Rafael's facial hair. He has a small goatee under his lip, and keeps the rest of ihs face with an almost constant stubble. He only shaves once every few days, since he can't be bothered with it daily. Plus, it gives him the scruffy appearance all the girls dig. eye color; Dark brown. style; Rafael is a Knight of Caedere, and has always been told to dress his best. So, not wanting to bring shame to his family, he does so. When not in his knight uniform, he dresses in oxfords with suspenders and scarves and trousers and boots and spats and waistcoats and just about every other thing you can think of.
As a knight, however, he wears a white hooded cape, fastened around his neck with a fancy broach, a snappy blouse handed down to him from his father, bracers, a belt with holsters in the back to conceal his pair of flintlock pistols, a pair of fire- and ice-resistant trousers, and lace-up boots form his grandfather. Rafael also wears a sash that goes form his left shoulder to his right hip, with three stripes of his family's colors - blue, white, and blue again. He also adorns this sash with his medals and honors, and it is always on him when he's in uniform. He may or may not carry his sword around with him, because it's usually just for show.

friends; All the ladies. enemies; All the ladies' husbands. companions; The Knights of Caedere. Rafael does keep a small mutt as a companion in his family home, but when he's out and about, he either travels by foot or on his not-so-trusty steed, an Andalusian mare named Traveller. She is of the Folk, but Rafael does not know this, since she never talks to him. She does understand human speech, and is not just some dumb animal. She is easily insulted, very vain, and must be treated with utmost respect, which Rafael certainly does not do. He only rides Traveller when necessary.

personality; Rafael is, in more ways than one, a stereotypical handsome devil. He's rough, he acts like he doesn't care, and pretty much all the male stereotypes. He will drink at celebrations and on occasions when he's relaxing hat his family's villa, but not many other times. He sometimes smokes a pipe, but only when they're offered to him.
You know the saying "curiosity killed the cat?" That fits perfectly for Rafael, except he hasn't died yet. If somebody catches him and tells him to swear not to tell, you can bet your bottom dollar that he won't. If there's one thing Rafael is good at when it comes to social interaction, it's keeping secrets, for better or for worse. You can trust him with anything, as long as it's something he won't have to carry. Because he'd probably drop it. And break it. And then run.
Don't tell anyone this, but I know Rafael's deepest, darkest, most innermost secret! Here it is: Although he's claimed to have slept with hordes of women, paid and unpaid, his grand total really turns out to be... zero. That's right, he lies when he says he's a total pimp. He beats himself up over this fact, but he realizes that he can't go around shagging every feminine thing that moves without getting a bad reputation and shaming the Benito family name. He just wants to be free, but that's impossible when you're born into semi-royalty.
Oh yeah, about that reputation thing. Rafael cares deeply for his family name, and therefore will do anything to uphold it, even though he really does not enjoy being a knight. He dreams of a day where he can just walk out of his family's house, into the streets, and not be noticed because of his clean, noble appearance. He will always take orders, because he has been whipped into shape by his father and his father's servants. He is also very indecisive, and can never stick with a firm choice - you could simply say that he's flighty. It's easy to sway his decisions, however, by mentioning food or ladies.
When you get close to Rafael, however, you may find that he's a bit... clingy. He doesn't like to face problems alone (unless it's a duel, then he'll get a little cocky) and always depends on his friends and family to do most of the work. He's a bit of a slacker, to say the least, and puts off tasks until he absolutely must do them.
abilities.magic; None. fighting; - weapons: Rafael prepares for the worst, and therefore always has a weapon on him. One thing he will never leave the house without, even if he's butt-naked, is his knife. It's small but sturdy, and he wears it as a sort of backwards necklace, sheathed and practically invisible. His second weapon is his pair of flintlock pistols. He always has one on him, but will carry two during ceremonial events or when he's patrolling the rougher, more dangerous districts of Caedere. They stay concealed as well, set in their back holsters on Rafael's belt. Then, there is his sword, which has been passed down by all Benitos. Nobody knows who or when it was forged, but popular belief is that the purely mythological elves did. Whatever the case, it handles well and feels much like a speedier, more deadlier extension to the arm. Rafael will only carry this for ceremonies, to show of to the ladies, or to duel with. - defense: Rafael does not carry a shield, because they are for "girls." He does, however, wear light mail under his uniform when he's on patrol. When he's just going for a nice stroll or something, he doesn't wear any armor. No breastplates, no gauntlets, no helmets, nothing.
audio.voice; If you can picture Robert Downey, Jr. with a Italian/Spanish accent, you're pretty dang close. theme song; "Got To Be Free" by The Kinks - listen lyrics; Click.
history.Rafael Benito was born to Atherol and Gena Benito, who belonged to the bloodline of the royal family. Because of this (and Rafael's paternal side being particularly skilled in fighting) Rafael received a higher level of education and social class than most other people. And he was expected to be a Knight of Caedere, just like his father.
Now, when your blood binds you to a special duty, you have to fulfill it. So Rafael took some fencing lessons, continued with his every day tutoring, and lived the average life of your regular noble child. His father occasionally dropped in to give him a few tips and tricks, but he was usually off defending Silvereye and basically doing his job.
One thing Rafael pined for, however, was a regular, middle-class life. He yearned to go out into the streets and play with the regular kids, eat regular food for dinner, and have parents, not servants, who kissed you good-night. But that was not to be, and Rafael grew up fine, tall, and positively handsome. His father passed down his knighthood to his son, who had no choice but to accept.
To this day, you can find Rafael patrolling the streets and serving at ceremonial functions, with a fake grin and a heart that just wants to be free.
