YEAH. Already. I can't help it I have a mind that is apparently...good at finding holes.
Anyways, the description of Dragon's Spine:
Since there are zeppelins and air balloons couldn't they get to the islands that way?
OH ALSO.
I'm not sure how this could come into play but maybe there could be like MAGIC POLLUTION. They have this in D&D where places that use a lot of magic (such as academies) tend to be surrounded by magical pollution (fog) that can do crazy stuff to you like polymorph you or make your clothes and skin change funky colors...and some other more dangerous stuff I can't remember.
I DUNNO. Thought it was cool. Not sure if it makes any sense and FUUU my hands are freezing and I can't type. D:
Anyways, the description of Dragon's Spine:
Dragon's spine is a collection of six islands off the eastern cost of the Grey Wastes. Ancient scholars wrote essays about old, powerful witch civilizations that once ruled the islands, but most books and maps were destroyed over the years... or stolen. Almost all records of the Dragon's Spine were kept within Caedere libraries until a very ambitious thief lead a raid and stole those scrolls specifically. His motives were unknown.
Difficult to get to and even more difficult to leave, the coastline is a death trap. Boat corpses pile in sad little wrecked mountains in between rocky spikes. The water looks rapid, foaming like a sick dog around the half drowned caves. There's no sand here, no palm trees or little hermit craps. It's a desolate, cold place home to more rats then flowers.
It's also filled with magical artifacts.
Not that most people can get to them. Bastion Tower, the secret school for witches, entwined the place with barriers and confusing illusions to keep the treasure seekers out. The tower sends expeditions to retrieve unusual items and train excelling apprentices, taking advantage of the wisdom embedded in the ruin walls.
But not even the witches of the tower are safe there. Accidents happen and the grey wastes are very close. Ash falls all the same when the rain comes.
