Like a crushed berry, the bulbous clouds seemed to soak the darkening sky with mottled gray. Starlight shone down from the deep indigo and lit the canopy, sending the forest into a strange calm. Shadows were skewed and shapes undiscernable in the eerie lighting. Creatures of the treetops retreated to their nests and nooks, preserving the sanctity of the night's transformation. All was quiet through the many layers of the Woodland.
Hundreds of feet below, none but the smallest beams of starlight dared to challenge the darkness of the earth. Every soul was a trespasser in this place. The forest rose imperially over its fertile soil and snuffed the life of any who sought to steal its riches.
One soul, however, was not snuffed. Rather, it thrived.
Beneath the starlight-laden canopy, below the thick, boiling nests of the tree dwellers, and paying no heed to the pointing vines, stood a girl. Her long limbs and tanned skin radiated a bright vitality very unlike the rest of the forest. Healthy locks cascaded down her back and shoulders and curled into thick swirls on her bare skin. She had long fingers and big feet, but it suited her body. Her lips were like a salmon rose, and her eyes the rich brown of split wood.
On her figure she wore a kind of skirt woven with feathers, supported by her hips and also by a web of skinny vines that curled around the rest of her body. She wore a necklace with many feathers that fell over her breasts and ribs.
Most peculiar was her activity. She was standing with her face upturned, her striking profile illuminated by three glowing golden leaves positioned in intervals around her. From afar the scene was only a bright speck of light, strange in such a dark forest. Up close it was mystical, nearly unbelievable, knowing that no human dares intrude the solitudes of the Woodlands.
And yet, this one has made light.
OOC: Rani lives in the Caedere portion of the forest, as her mother fled the Bastion Tower and birthed her in the Woodlands.
