Overview
There are a variety of religions on Halfmoon. Characters of all races are free to believe whatever they like, but below is what is considered the norm for each respective race. Keep in mind that the human religions are likely to be the most popular.
Religion on Caedere
Humans and Faeries
They typically believe in a god called The Architect.
The Architect is the creator of all things and the source of morality, beauty, and intelligence. It’s believed that The Architect is a great philosopher and inventor, someone who took immense care in devising the world and all its creatures.
The religion of the Architect is a lenient one. For cultural reasons, mass prayers are hardly ever held. There are no buildings of worship but there are shrines within cities that people may visit to pay respects or pray for the Architect’s favor.
The Architect is represented by the form of a bearded, strong and older male dressed in the clothing of a scholar.
Nivali
Their goddess is known as Freya. She is viewed as the mother of all their people, the one that breathed them into existence. It is not uncommon to see a Nivali with a portrait or statue of Freya within their homes. They believe being in good graces with Freya ensures excellent health and prosperity. Prayer is private and is more accurately described as meditation. Some Nivali spend no time in meditation while others dedicate time each day to pray. It all depends on the level of their faith and what their personal beliefs are.
The Folk
The Folk believe that they were given intelligence and made sentient by the great beasts that live in Brumeviel. The most devout and traditional of the folk view the sentient great beasts as living gods, creatures to be admired and protected. They pray to the spirits of the beasts that have since passed into the next realm and make occasional visits to the forest where they may leave offerings or pay their respects.
The Folk that try to emulate humans the closest are far more likely to convert to a different religion, such of that of the Architect.
Religion on Sideris
Humans and Faeries
They typically believe in a god called The Maker.
The Maker is the creator of all life and everything in existence. The Maker represents family, tradition, sacrifice, brotherhood and strength. He is viewed as a great warrior and tactician. Followers of the Maker are typically devout. It is expected they prey often to keep the Maker appeased and show their subservience to him.
People gather in churches to pray and worship. Saturday , on Sideris, is known at the day of worship.
The maker is represented by a strong man dressed in intricate armor. His youth represents his virility. There is a crown on his head indicating his role as Lord over all things.
